071412 - The Urban Tracker (In Pangasinan): A Glance of Hundred Thrills In Lucap

Letters of Welcome: The Hundred Island Park in Lucap
ust a sighting of Hundred Islands within reach was in itself a marvelous affair. The islands from the perspective are clusters of islets situated in Lingayen Gulf declared as protected wildlife and national park.

Lucap could be the nearest jump-off point or gateway accessing these islands with the presence of wharf with boats and life-jackets. If we have our way, we would have availed a boat ride and encircled the islands but we're running against time.

The city of Alaminos official insignia outside the municipal hall where we made our initial stop to make a courtesy call on the city engineer's office to secure an overview map of the municipality. The employees diligently provided us the overview of the whole town of Alaminos.

The Cathedral of St. Joseph stands like a watchtower in downtown Alaminos.
From Marcos Avenue, the tower dome of cathedral of Saint Joseph. stood tall among structure in downtown Alaminos. Other big establishments like Alaminos Nepo mall., local shops and other general merchandise thrived along the already busy and bustling avenue. The poblacion was obviously saturated with so much urban madness.

A Chinese inspired kiosk is a cool feature in the middle of Alaminos park
The Alaminos park just across the cathedral provided a brief hie off for the downtowners mostly students in nearby universities or a stopover for some backpackers. From a quick runaround Nepo mall earlier, the park space was a more commendable option if looking for a brief respite with a kiosk in the center.

Bancas parked on the Lucap wharf await for the day's passenger for an island hop,
From main terminal, going to Lucap took only 5 minute ride by a tricycle. A boat docked on the wharf awaited anyone who would like to take the island hopping on the telescopic Hundred Islands on vivid distance.  A boat ride ranged from 2k off peak - 3-4k fr peak seasons ideal for a group of 6-8.

Souvenir shells peddled by locals with ingenuity in craftsmanship.
In substitute, we settled in walking around a mini market wharf tour and some phototakes in Hundred Island park. Souvenir shells were sold here along with other terrarium shells. I was a fan of ref magnets so I purchased those locally made and imprinted magnets fetching a hundred pesos for 3 pieces and some add-on keychains and accessory holders.

This figure seems to be a forgotten statue.perhaps with its ambiguity.
The afternoon was quiet and almost giving way to twilight. The boatmen were in relax mode after hours of waiting from sloppy turn-out of tourists, island hoppers to transport them to islands. And so the life jackets and the airtight tires were just lounging in one corner.

The  Hundred Island Island park was apparently in stage of development. Tourism brought by Hundred Islands have given jobs to locals but I guess more work has to be done like the maintenance and improvement.

Only time can tell when to set foot in those islands
The Hundred Islands was a sight to behold from the dock. It's enough for now to watch its panoramic grandeur, something but a promise of weathering ringing and stirring in our souls - like a hundred tales that come to past . With just a glimpse of the islands in Lucap wharf was itself like being a part of its hundred take thrills.
